      I don’t have to – we can grow the malaria parasites we work on in human red blood cells in an incubator in the lab. There are some experiments that my colleagues do that do involve animals though, because there are some experiments we can just never do on humans – deliberately infect them with malaria for example. It’s my opinion that animal research is fine, as long as it is for a really good scientific reason, and is carefully ethically monitored. Fact is, work on animals has had a huge impact on all our health.
