Hi naadine. This whole deal about 2012 is completely out of hand, imho. People have been predicting the end of the world for centuries, and they have always been wrong.

The scientific thing to do would be look at the data. It feels like there have been lots of earthquakes recently, but our opinion is biased by the fact they have happened near cities so have been on our television screens. Are there really more earthquakes now? Geologists must track all earthquakes around the world – looking at this year compared to the last 100 years would probably tell you that these things just fluctuate up and down in frequency.

      It’s all about the data!

about 2012?? no it’s a load of hogswash!! Tripe! There is no evidence and i based on very little evidence that the mayan calendar even ended in 2012! why on earth would it? Wasn’t the world meant to end in 2000????

      Hi Naadine

I guess you’re talking about the Mayan prediction that the world will end in 2012. Would this be luck? There have been predictions almost every year about the world ending, but to be honest I don’t take any of them too seriously. By the time we get to I’m a Scientists 2013 we’ll all be able to look back at this and have a good chuckle.

      Hi naadine,
I presume you are talking about the mayan prophecy that the world will end in 2012?
No, I don’t think they are right. In fact, all of the scientific evidence and all of the common sense in the world tells us that the world will go on long after 2012.
