hi geogina no i haven’t been on tv for my job. Would i like to??? Well i guess so, although i don’t have a strong ambition to be a tv scientist star. I do love the science programs on tv these – they are high quality, and present difficult ideas in brilliant, simple ways. Brian Cox is pretty amazing at presenting science in an understanable way – i don’t think i could compete with guys like!!
Yes, but not in the UK. After one exciting piece of work got published last year we had a lot of interest from the press, and one day we had a TV crew from Brazil come to our Institute. That was fun, and we have another big study coming out later this year that might even attract UK TV. We’ll see.
No, but I have been interviewed by newspapers a couple of times. The experience was really interesting, but the article that came out at the end wasn’t exactly what I had said…. Not really anyone’s fault, it is hard for a journalist to pick up a complex scientific story in a 10 minute interview, but it really emphasised how much you should take all science you read in the papers with a grain of salt! If a story is interesting enough, seek out the real data yourself, and make up your own mind!
Hi georgeinaalice,
Thanks for your question.
No I haven’t been on the tv for my job. I’ve been on the newspaper a few times that’s all.
Maybe if I win I’m a Scientist they’ll let me on!
