Hi Noble
I’m not sure what hypothesis you’re referring to, but if it’s the one about the world ending, then I’m fairly sure there’s a similar hypothesis for every year! Despite Brian Cox telling us all that the world will indeed come to an end one day, and I’m sure he’s right, I have no worries about it happening any time soon.
People have been predicting the end of the world for as long as there have been humans. When I was at school, some people were convinced the world was going to end because Nostradamus had predicted it. IMHO, it’s all just bunk. You can string a series of events together to make it look like it means something, and someone else can string the same events together to make them mean something else. Noone is right, because there is no experiment you can do to test one theory or the other.
That means that it’s storytelling, it’s not science. Good for movies and conspiracy theories, but not something I spend any time thinking about because there just ain’t any data!
hi noble. I’m sorry if you think otherwise but i think it is rubbish. The idea would seem to come from the idea of a 5000 year Mayan calendar ending. And that’s fine, it’s a theory, theories are fine. But next as a scientist you look for evidence, and i’m sorry but i don’t see any at all!
I especially don’t like the planet X idea sorry!! Again there just doesn’t seem to be any evidence!
Hi noble,
My opinion is that it is all a load of rubbish! I think all of the science shows that the world will not end in 2012. If anybody tells you differently, you should ask them to prove it, using real, proper science!!
hpooley1 – sorry to break it to you, but it is true, we are all going to die. That’s a fact of life. Far better to worry about how to spend your life fruitfully and enjoyably, than about prophecies that after 2012 is over will be superceded by a different prophecy.
