• Question: What made you want to look into potato cyst nematodes?

      Hiya,
      Good question!
      There are loads of similar plant pest I could have looked at. Hopefully my work on this particular pest will also shed some light on lots of the other bugs.
      Sometimes, if a scientist looks at too many things at the same time, they won’t spot the important stuff. Thats why it can be good to focus.
      My boss was already working on potato cyst nematode (PCN), so he wanted somebody to continue the work that he had started. That way, the work that had already been doen could be expanded on and we could learn even more about the pest!
      This is the way lots of science is done. Kind of like “standing on the shoulders of giants” and building on the work that’s been done before you started!
