hi richard i guess if it was possible i probably would. ALthough i would like to come back aswell. I think though at the moment to get to mars using a normal rocket would take about six months. I don’t fancy that – being in a small capsule that long would drive me crazy!

      Hi Richardk

I think that would be incredible, and I’d be up for it even if it was quite risky. I don’t know much about space travel but I know it takes a few days to get to the moon, so a day trip to Mars would need some sort of hyperspeed space craft. I believe that if you were to stand on Mars and look at Earth it wouldn’t appear much bigger than a bright star.

Who wouldn’t! The really big question is whether there would be life there, and if there was, would it have DNA. Bacteria are incredibly adaptive, living in all sorts of really extreme environments, so my money would be on them, but would be seriously cool to go and find out!

Hmmm, isn’t it supposed to be extremely hot/cold up there? Certainly i’d love to, I believe water has been discovered on the surface of Mars so it may be possible that it could support life at some point, so it’s very interesting for a biologist like myself. Also, I love the film Mars attacks – I think it would be very cool to visit one of their labs!

      Hi richard,
I’d love to, it seems like a cool place. Unfortunately, it would take much longer than a day to get to mars and back. Scientists in Russia are currently spending 520 days inside a simulator to try and mimic what it would be like if you sent astronauts all the way to mars and back. They’ve got some very interesting results.
